Elephant Haven – Overnight Program (Superior Room)

It is time now to take the chain and saddle off of the elephants. It’s now time to provide an elephant haven for them with no riding. Walk together to the green fields, roam free, play in the mud, eat well and swim in the deep river.

Location: Kanchanburi province – West Thailand – NOT CHIANG MAI

Nearest Airport: – Bangkok – Suvarnabhumi (BKK) Don Mueang (DMK)

Getting to Kanchanburi from Bangkok:

Buses leave from Bangkok´s Sai Tai bus terminal, driving time around 3 hours. We recommend staying in Kanchanburi the night before your visit to our project.

We hope to see you. Please wait at Kanchanaburi bus station (Tourist Police Kiosk Area) at about 8.00 am.
 

If you stay in the hotel not far from Kanchanaburi Bus Station, we can pick you up at your hotel also. So please let me know the hotel name and your room number.(thaielephanthaven@gmail.com)

Schedule of the day

Day1 – 8:00 Am pick up
from Kanchanaburi bus station  and transported to the project.

After a safety briefing on arrival at the project, you will prepare food for the elephants and then given the opportunity of meeting and getting to know the elephants whilst feeding them. Walk to the forest with the elephant to learn about elephant information.

After lunch, watch them enjoy playing in a mud pit. With no riding, walk with the elephants to the river and bathe the elephants.

Check-in to accommodation within the project at 12.00 p.m.

Walk with the elephants through the forest back to the main project area, feed the elephants after feeding, our guide will take you to cut grass for elephant Learn about the importance of sustainable food preparation and help collect fresh grass for the elephants’ diet.

After dinner and through the night, you will be able to appreciate the natural habitat.

Day 2 
A Closer Experience with the Elephants

After breakfast, Day 2 focuses on hands-on activities that help you learn more about the elephants’ daily life and natural behaviors.

Morning Activities:

  • • Prepare Sticky Rice for Elephant Treats
    Start the day by cooking and preparing sticky rice, which will later be used to make rice balls for the elephants.

    • Visit Krasae Cave and the Death Railway
    Take a short trip to the historic Krasae Cave and the famous Death Railway viewpoint before returning to the camp.

Lunch Break

Enjoy a vegetarian lunch at the camp and take some time to relax.

Afternoon Activities:

  • • Make Rice Balls and Feed the Elephants
    Use the sticky rice prepared in the morning to mix, shape, and form rice balls. Then enjoy feeding them to the elephants up close.

    • Watch the Elephants Play in the Mud
    Observe the elephants as they cool off and enjoy a natural mud bath—an important behavior for their comfort and skin care.

    • River Bath with the Elephants
    Join the elephants for a refreshing bath in the river, one of the most relaxing and enjoyable moments of the day.

    • Final Feeding Session
    End the visit with one last chance to feed the elephants and take memorable photos before leaving.

3:00 p.m. – Depart Elephant Haven project and return to Kanchanaburi arriving at about 4:00 p.m.
